Let me tell you how amazing homemade gravy is.

I know it's very southern of me, but I am absolutely obsessed with making gravy from scratch. It's easier to make than you can imagine. Annnd it is so versatile and delicious! You can pour it on so many things: mashed potatoes, biscuits, rice, toast, meat, etc! It's comforting, salty, warm, creamy. hmmm. I'm craving gravy right now!

You can start making gravy by making a simple roux (butter, flour, milk). Then you can add all sorts of flavor combinations. Once I made a ham and onion gravy. It is probably my favorite gravy flavor. You can flavor with bacon, sausage, chicken, ham, steak, onion, etc. 

After I started making the standard gravy flavors, I started experimenting. When I lived in Georgia, I used to make a really good chicken and rice. Well, in Costa Rica it's hard to find the ingredients. So I started using a gravy to make my chicken and rice dish. It is sooo much better!

Thennnn, I started making homemade Alfredo sauce and cheese sauce for macaroni. It's more economical and deliciousssss!

Sometimes I just make gravy for myself, put it on toast, and fry up a couple of eggs. That's my favorite breakfast.
